How to Survive Your Housemates During Isolation

22 Apr 2020

Last week on Instagram live we talked about how to survive your housemates during isolation and obeying the stay-at-home orders without going crazy. Sometimes it can be tough enough when things are “normal” but COVID19 is making it unusually difficult for a lot of people.

We are all stuck in quarantine with our housemates who could be parents, siblings, roommates and fur balls. How do you create space for yourself in your house/apartment/ living situation? One thing you can do is make your room or sleeping space off limits to others in your shared space. That is your safe space where only you can go and be.

What kinds of things at home offer escape for you? Can you put on headphones and listen to music, grab a book and find a corner to read or even go outside for some quiet time. These escapes also help you get away when you can’t leave.

Being stuck inside all day for weeks can cause an emotional toll on all of us. We need to practice emotional self-distancing at home. How do we do that? We put up boundaries and we practice good communication with our housemates. We speak up when we need space or need more time spent together.

What are you doing to thrive during isolation and not just survive? Let us know.
