Be the change & Vote!

Election day is almost here in the US. Voting gives us the power to create a positive change for your community and country. Every vote counts. It’s the power of one ballot.

A lot of people in the world are not given the opportunity to exercise their vote. Mandatory voting occurs in a country when the country requires the citizens to vote. In some countries there are penalties for not voting While in others it’s just a compulsory requirement to live there. And in many other countries citizens are not allowed to vote.

In the last presidential election in the US one-third of the population did not participate. That’s a staggering 80 million people! Voting is a right and a privilege that everyone should participate in. But we need to vote intelligently. When we vote we are really hiring someone to do a job. This may sound strange, but you may not like a particular candidate, but are they the best one to get the job done.

That’s why it’s crucial to do your research before casting your vote. You have to go deeper that who your fave celebrity is backing or what people are saying on TikTok. You want to vote intelligently. Do your research then go with your gut.

Lots of people don’t understand the importance of it. There’s even been cries recently to do away with it. The founding fathers of our country made a  brilliant move when they designed it to help ensure fair elections.

One vote may not seem crucial, but in reality one vote has changed history many times. Be a voice for those who cannot vote. When you vote not only are you expressing your own opinion, but you’re also lending your voice to others who cannot vote for whatever reason or articulate their beliefs. Make your voice heard!

If you’re not old enough yet  to vote think about getting involved with a local campaign. Be a volunteer. You’ll learn a lot, have some fun and int’s another way to be the change.
